Production 1 - Portfolio Boarders

 Since we have started our portfolio project in class I have been trying to focus on the frame work for the 2 page spread where the feature articles will be. I am comfortable with InDesign, not as comfortable as I would like to be so I have been looking over some of their courses to see what tools I will need to make my magazine best match the image I have in my head. Due to the fact that my magazine is about travel and I have not had an opportunity to visit any of the locations I want to use in my article I have been focusing on creating the boarder. The boarder is supposed to look like someone sketched a line around the inner rectangle, I want it to give a more antique and natural element to the out skirts of the pages. I will uses lines that overlap to create different thicknesses and give it the authentic feel. It will convey a beachy feel but I also want it to come across as professional. It will contribute to the selling lines and the typography of the feature article as well...

Storyboard

  In class, we have been storyboarding our concepts. Storyboarding being " a flexible and comprehensive tool that can be used by a group to devise creative concepts" (Higgins).  After I presented my refined concept to the class and got the feedback that I should  home in on  my family travel concept I began looking  at the perfect places that I would want to show  off as fun family destinations with something for everybody. I felt that with my understanding of the software needed, I could  " manipulate shots and add postproduction elements such as music, sound effects, dialogue, titles, and credits, all of which can greatly enhance the final version of your film," (O'Brain), while I'm not doing a film the software will still allow me to give my images the best possible effects.  I chose  Sarasota  to be my location because I feel like I have a good knowledge of fun things to do and can use this to my advantage.
